Betzi Quiroz, MSN, RN earned her Master’s degree in Nursing Education from Gonzaga University (2009) and her BSN degree in Nursing from Boise State University (2001). With 25 years of nursing experience and knowledge, Quiroz has taught various clinical and theoretical courses at Boise State University, Idaho State University-Meridian’s Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Program and Carrington College before joining Saint Alphonsus Health Trinity in 2024.
Prior to teaching as a Nursing Professor in academia for 18 years, Quiroz worked in Southwest Idaho in a variety of clinical areas including medical-surgical, orthopedic, neurology, oncology, women’s health and cardiology units. Additionally, she also worked as a community health educator, designing and providing bilingual (Spanish & English) injury prevention and health promotion education and services to under-served populations in rural areas of Idaho.
Teaching in academia, Professor Quiroz gained successful strategies to support her students’ success as she facilitated knowledge acquisition and application of the nursing process; empowering nursing students to reach their dreams of becoming a nurse and making a difference on the life of others.
Currently, Quiroz works as a Nurse Care Manager/Certified Spanish Interpreter and has the privilege to care for and teach community members in Idaho and Oregon. She is now part of a great team of health care providers at Saint Alphonsus Health Trinity who work towards a shared mission of engaging, caring and supporting at-risk patients by identifying and reducing language/socioeconomic/geographical/medical barriers and connecting them to community resources to prevent worsening health status.
Quiroz continues to pursue her passion for lifelong learning as she makes every effort to stay abreast of the health care field, seeking opportunities for continuing education to provide holistic nursing care to patients in rural and urban areas.
