Las Vegas Latino Youth Leadership Conference - Angela Ramirez

Latino Youth Leadership Conference was a great experience for me since during my stay at the University of Las Vegas Nevada, I was able to experience what it feels like to belong to a place to speak and be heard, to speak and not be judged. This conference really was not what I imagined since I had this perspective of the conference, I believed that it would only be about colleges or scholarships. But on the contrary, during the week this conference changed my perspective a lot and with each day that passed I was more surprised. I really believe that this conference changed the way I look at the world a lot. I found friends that I never thought I would meet.

I learned so much about other people's lives and that made me reflect since I thought that my life wasn't the best compared to mine but when I heard the stories of my classmates I really realized that the life I lead is great and it really made me thankful for the life I lead since their lives are very different and even more difficult and hearing what they went through and everything they had to live through made me more empathetic as a person now I learned that if I have a bad day I have to control myself and not let my anger out on other people since I don't know the situation they are going through and many other things but honestly this conference is a great experience and if one day you feel stuck on something, you should go and open yourself and share your story and create your own family.

This trip changed me a lot as a person, and I just want to thank Yuki and Rick for making this possible. It also made me think more about my future and what I want to do. This conference gave me a lot of ideas and also connections with professionals. If you ever have the opportunity to go to LYLC, I would say go; you won't regret it. You'll come back with a great life lesson.
